Second suspect arrested in groomer's death

The second suspect in the murder of John M. Bullock, a professional dog handler and groomer, is now in custody in Pascagoula, charged with capital murder, Police Capt. Davy Davis said.

Police arrested Daniel Lamont Hatten, 28, around 10 p.m. Wednesday shortly after he showed up at a friend's apartment on Eden Street.

The friend, police said, called to report his whereabouts after Hatten had fallen asleep.

Another suspect, Rodney Phillip McKenzie, 19, is already in custody, also charged with capital murder.

Bullock was shot and killed in his van Tuesday after an apparent struggle with the two suspects who wanted drugs he had sitting on his dashboard.
