OCEAN SPRINGS - Two people were injured today in a two-vehicle collision involving a dump truck in the eastbound lane of U.S. 90 at Byrd Street, Ocean Springs Police Public Information Officer Michael Pol said.
The accident happened at 12:35 p.m., when a 2000 Mercury driven by Biloxi resident Melba Higginbotham, 76, slammed into a dump truck driven by Marcus D. Guyton, 37, of Lucedale, police said.
Pol said Guyton's truck was stopped in the eastbound lane when Higginbotham's vehicle slammed into the back of it.
Higginbotham and Guyton were taken to Ocean Springs Hospital for treatment.
