Bicyclist killed in South MS collision identified; car drivers uninjured

Mobile resident Temario Compton, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene in a crash early Sunday morning on Miss. Highway 611 in Jackson County.

A news release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol said Compton was riding a bicycle on the highway before dawn. A 2008 Honda Accord driven by Dilaila Ortiz, 22, of Gautier, and a 2016 Toyota Camry driven by James Baxter, 39, were both headed north when they collided with the bike, also headed north.

Ortiz and Baxter were not injured, the news release said. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
