Moss Point police are investigating the shooting death of a man Tuesday evening at a Highway 63 hotel, Police Chief Dennis Stevenson said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in a room at the Quality Inn between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Stevenson said.

A woman who was in the room at the time of the shooting called police, he said. No other witnesses have been identified.

Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. identified the victim as Reginald Scott Thomas Jr., 33, of Moss Point. The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
