Coroner identifies victim of head-on collision in South Mississippi
One person died after a car and dump truck collided Monday morning on Highway 57 in Jackson County, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.
The cars crashed just north of Bunker Hill Road, said Trooper Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the agency.
Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. identified the victim as John Kowal, 88, of Vancleave. Kowal had been driving the car.
The crash briefly closed Highway 57, but the road had reopened by 11:30 a.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
