Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle I-10 crash on MS Coast

A crash between several cars Wednesday night on Interstate 10 killed a 62-year-old motorcyclist from Vancleave, authorities said.

Michael Larry Urbani died after a car veered into his motorcycle and he was hit by an 18-wheeler driving behind him, Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said.

The crash closed I-10 westbound at Highway 63 between 9:30 to 11:20 p.m. as state troopers and the Moss Point Police Department responded to the scene.

It is unclear if anyone has been charged in connection to the crash. Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley did not immediately return a message Thursday morning. Lynd said the crash is still under investigation.

Lynd said Urbani was part of the Soldiers of the Cross motorcycle group and had been serving a meal at a women’s group Wednesday night.
