A Saucier man died early Saturday after a motorcycle chase in Ocean Springs.

City police identified the deceased as Joseph Jereidini, 26.

Officers tried to pull over Jereidini for a traffic stop about 12:41 a.m. in the downtown part of Bowen Avenue.

However, the motorcyclist failed to stop and a brief pursuit started.

Jereidini went northbound on Cox Avenue and and then got on U.S. 90, where he collided with a silver Chrysler 300 traveling westbound. Jereidini was taken by ambulance to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he died.

The driver and passenger of the Chrysler 300 were taken to USA Medical Center in Mobile for treatment.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene to conduct an accident reconstruction.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
