1 dead, 2 hospitalized after police chase ends in crash, Coast authorities say

A motorcyclist died early Saturday after he fled police and crashed in Ocean Springs, authorities said.

Ocean Springs Police Chief Steven Dye said officers tried to stop the Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 12:41 a.m. Saturday near Bowen Avenue. Dye said officers chased the motorcycle north on Cox Avenue until the driver crashed into a silver Chrysler 300 going west on Bienville Boulevard.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Joseph Jereidini, 26, of Saucier.

Dye declined to provide information about why police stopped the motorcycle but said the stop resulted from a traffic violation. The driver and passenger of the Chrysler 300 were hospitalized at USA Medical Center in Mobile.

Police said first responders brought Jereidini to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he died.
