He turned a ‘’70s party house’ into a work of art in Gautier. You can buy it furnished.
One of the most unique homes in Gautier — and on the Coast — has hit the South Mississippi real estate market, and the listing is going locally viral.
The one-of-a-kind, house has purple and orange walls and, custom bathrooms and features mannequins, mirrors and distinctive furniture throughout the space.
Many have shared the Zillow link showing the house listing on Facebook, wanting to know more about the history and the decor. The Sun Herald caught up with the homeowner and listing agent.
“Live in what you love,” said homeowner Joe Jarmusz, who remodeled and furnished the home. “People have colorful clothes and shirts, why not your home?”
Jarmusz has a varied work history, from working with cancer patients to owning a pet hospital, but he says his real passion has always been art.
When he purchased the home which sits on just under 2.5 acres, he says it looked like a “70’s party house” with black floors and gold walls. This, combined with his passion for art, helped him design the home.
“I try to feel the space,” he said. “I want to pay homage to what it was.”
Jarmusz installed light fixtures that look like modern art pieces and plastered the walls with mirrors of different shapes and sizes. A mannequin with a light-up chest greets visitors at the front door.
“I love the colors, it is just really different,” said listing agent Kati Viola of Rain Residential. “[The house] is a work of art.”
The house is $434,000 and is getting a lot of attention.
Viola says pricing the home wasn’t easy as she had little comparison in area, but she managed to use the proximity to the water and other factors to come up with a price.
Viola believes if the purchaser chooses to buy the home furnished, it could lend itself to a great Airbnb and be fun for someone on vacation.
“Buying the house is kinda like buying that Corvette,” Jarmusz said. “[The buyer] might have always wanted to own something unique and now is their chance…you only live once.”
