Two men dead after incidents in Jackson County rivers, sheriff says

Two men died Sunday in Jackson County rivers, the sheriff said in a press release.

A fatal crash between two boats happened around 10:15 a.m. in Little River in the Escatawpa area, Sheriff Mike Ezell said.

Calvin Brewer, 57, of George County died, Coroner Bruce Lynd said. Three juveniles in the other boat were treated for minor injuries.

Also Sunday, officers from the sheriff’s department and Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks recovered the body of a Pascagoula man in Summerlin Bayou in Vancleave.

Philip Allen Alexander, 65, reportedly drowned Saturday when he fell off a houseboat into the water.

Both investigations are being conducted by the wildlife department.
