Coroner identifies 58-year-old Vancleave man killed in Jackson County crash

Anthony Wajda, 58, of Vancleave, died in a fatal crash earlier this week in Jackson County, Cororner Bruce Lynd Jr. said Wednesday.

Wajda died at the scene of the two-vehicle crash at 11 a.m. Monday on Old Fort Bayou Road, south of Seaman Road. The cause of death is blunt force trauma to the body, Lynd said.

Wajda was in a silver Hyundai Elantra headed in northeast direction when it crossed the road’s center line and collided with a gray Nissan Titan, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said.

Wajda died at the scene, while three people in the Titan were taken to Ocean Springs Hospital. One of the injured was later airlifted to a Mobile, Alabama, hospital, for further treatment.

The investigation into the wreck is ongoing, and no charges have been filed. Anyone with information about the wreck should contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
