One dead after two-vehicle crash in Jackson County

A person from Moss Point is dead after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

It happened at the intersection of Mississippi 613 and Horace Shumock Road just south of the Big Point community in Jackson County, MHP Cpl. Calvin Robertson said in a press release.

It appeared a 2002 Honda Accord driving north on the highway crossed the center line and hit a 2009 Hyndai Elantra driving south.

The driver of the Accord died at the scene, and the driver and passenger of the other car were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The identity of the deceased will be released after next of kin is notified.

The crash is under investigation by MHP.
