HARRISON COUNTY -- A fire that started on private property on Landon Road on Friday damaged about 5 acres of land, officials said.
Harrison County Fire Services Chief Pat Sullivan said the fire started about 4 p.m. and was contained within two hours. The land, just east of Canal Road, had once been a storage yard, he said. The property contained old equipment, scrap vehicles and tires.
"Several vehicles burned, and some tires burned. It was a bunch of different things that burned," Sullivan said.
No homes were affected by the fire, which Sullivan said is under investigation.
