Fundraiser for injured Gulfport girl moved to Sunday

Today's fundraiser for Damiesha Dedeaux, 11, has been rescheduled for Sunday.

Damiesha was critically injured Jan. 30 when she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Dedeaux Road.

Her mother said a fish fry will be held Sunday at the four-way stop on the east side of U.S. 49 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It starts at 10 a.m. and runs until.

Donations also can be made at the fish fry, or can be made to the Damiesha Dedeaux account at any branch of Regions Bank.

Damiesha remains hospitalized at the University of South Alabama's Children's and Women's Center in Mobile. Her mother said she will likely be released to home-care soon. Family members are receiving training to care for her medical needs and Damiesha will undergo outpatient therapy at Oschner's in New Orleans.
