The Biloxi Development Review Committee said today that a "national concern" will reopen the White Pillars, a once-popular Biloxi restaurant that has been shuttered about 20 years.
The restaurant, located on U.S. 90 at Rodenberg Avenue, was under renovations in 2008, but owner John Mladinich was unable to finish the renovations and reopen the restaurant because of health concerns.
The canopy will be removed, Mladinich said and Eggplant Josephine is expected to be back on the menu when the restaurant reopens.
Dr. Hyman Folks, built the home around 1919 at a cost of $14,000. It opened as a restaurant in 1970 and closed in 1989.
"I've been waiting a long time," Mladinich said.
