BILOXI – Guests of a Biloxi hotel were evacuated from the facility for several hours as police negotiated with a man who said he had a bomb there.
Robert Poole, 56, called police just before 1 a.m. from the Best Western Plus at 886 Beach Blvd. and said he had a bomb, Lt. Steve Patterson said.
Patrol units and the Biloxi Special Response Team, Hostage Negotiations Team and bomb squad responded.
Guests were evacuated for their safety as police talked to Poole. After several hours, they convinced him to surrender. He was taken into custody without incident just before 5 a.m.

No bombs or dangerous items were located in his room, Patterson said, and guests were allowed to return to their rooms.
