Suspect in robbery identified (updated 12:57 p.m.)

GULFPORT – Gulfport police have identified a suspect identified in a one car accident this morning. Tammy Shade of Gulfport, 30, of Gulfport is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.

Shade was spotted by police about 6 a.m. in the 500 block of Courthouse Road driving southbound at a high rate of speed, Chief Alan Weatherford said.

Officers lost sight of Shade's vehicle as it crossed the railroad tracks, but located it soon after, he said. Shade had crashed the car and was ejected from it, he said. Responding officers located an individual in the 500 block of Courthouse Road who had been involved in a robbery and determined the driver of the wrecked car was the suspect in the robbery.

Shade will be charged with simple robbery when she is released from the hospital.
