GULFPORT – Investigators are at the scene of a Creel Circle home this morning to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed the single-story residence, officials said.
Firefighters from Station 6 arrived at 11368 Creel Circle about 2:30 a.m. and found the 3-bedroom, wood-frame home engulfed by flames, said District Chief Chris Henderson.
Firefighters were hampered when the floor collapsed and the roof caved in while they were inside. No one was injured, he said.
It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control, though they were on the scene for nearly three hours, he said.
“Their hard work and training paid off to ensure that no one was injured,” he said.
The home is being remodeled and the homeowner was not staying at the property.
Firefighters protected a car parked at the residence, but the home is a total loss, he said.
