BILOXI - The concrete from bridges destroyed by Hurricane Katrina will go to build the Katrina Reef off Deer Island.
The Biloxi Council today awarded the bid to W.C. Fore Trucking Inc. to demolish the old U.S. 90 fishing pier and the Back Bay fishing pier.
Sen. Tommy Gollott, R-Biloxi, and the Coast delegation pledged up to $272,000 of the cost to use the concrete for the Katrina Reef rather than having it hauled away.
The Council also agreed to provide the full economic tax incentive for seven years for a 142-room Hilton Garden Inn to be built on U.S. 90 across from Sharkheads.
