A 15-year-old kidnapping victim who fought off her attacker and ran for help has identified the suspect, police said.
Detective Steve Schlicht said the girl was abducted from Iberville Drive by a man who tried to force her into his residence. A patrol officer noticed the girl in distress at Pass Road and Adams Street and information led to the arrest of Lucas Meza Fernando around 3:15 a.m. today at his residence on Baker Street.
Fernando is charged with kidnapping and attempted sexual battery.
Judge Albert Fountain has ordered him held on bonds of $300,000.
