A Walmart supercenter will be built on the beach next to Edgewater Village on the site that had movie theaters before Hurricane Katrina.
"Walmart is excited to announce that we will be relocating to a new supercenter in Biloxi,” the company said in a statement. “This new supercenter will replace the current location at Pass Road. The new supercenter will provide a greater shopping experience for our loyal customers and a opportunity for new jobs in the area.” The new supercenter will be approximately 150,000 square feet and is currently scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2012."
The site is between DeBuys and Eisenhower roads in West Biloxi.
