The Gulfport Music Festival is being condensed to one day ahead of Tropical Storm Nate.
Ludacris, originally a headliner set to perform Saturday, will perform Friday night after 3 Doors Down.
Ricky Mitchell, one of the organizers for the Gulfport Music Festival, said he was spending the last 24 hours before the festival taking care of the last-minute details. Mitchell, like many on the Gulf Coast, is also closely monitoring the weather.
Tropical Storm Nate is poised to bring some tropical storm conditions, including wind and rain, into the Coast area beginning Saturday night.
But for Mitchell and Alpha Media, the organizers of the Gulfport Music Festival, the show must go on.
“The weather is supposed to be great Friday night, so we are really excited about that,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said a virtual village has been set up in Jones Park to facilitate those planning to attend the show. He said the festival has about 100 local stage hands and volunteers who help set up the massive stage and other amenities in the park, including 96 portable toilets.
