Neighbors reported early morning fire that left a home ‘a total loss’

An early morning fire destroyed a home Saturday, according to Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan, but nobody was home at the time.

Neighbors reported the fire around 6:30 a.m.

The wood-frame, single-story home on Old Highway 49 and Hudson Lane “was a total loss,” Sullivan said.

The family has been contacted, he said.

Units from Harrison County Fire Service, Saucier, Lizana and McHenry responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Sullivan said.
