Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers were on a manhunt Monday night for a driver and passenger who fled on foot after a vehicle chase on Interstate 10.
The chase began about 7:30 p.m. near Exit 44 at Cedar Lake Road when a MHP unit tried to pull over a vehicle that was reported stolen, spokesman Chase Elkins said.
The driver refused to stop, prompting about a 3-mile pursuit that ended near Woolmarket Exit 41 when another MHP unit deployed spike strips on the road and disabled the car.
When the car came to a stop, the two men jumped out and ran into the woods adjacent to the interstate, Elkins said.

The search was called off just before 10 p.m., he said, and the suspects have not been found.
