A man who was stopped on Old Highway 90 after his motorcycle broke down was struck by a vehicle on Monday, a Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

He was the third person hit by a vehicle near the Mississippi-Louisiana state line in three weeks.

MHP Spokesman Chase Elkins said deputies arrived to the scene of the accident at 8:55 p.m. Monday night and found Anthony Pharrow Jr. suffering from serious injuries after he and his motorcycle were struck by a white Ford Explorer.

Elkins said Pharrow was stopped in the westbound lane, and the driver of the SUV was traveling westbound.

Elkins, who could not confirm Pharrow’s age or city of residence, said he was taken to a hospital by helicopter for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.

On Aug. 6, Pearlington teenager Joby Bennett pulled over on Old Highway 90 near the state line to help Catrina Lucky look for a dog when they both were struck by a vehicle. Bennett was pronounced dead on the scene, and Lucky is still recovering from her injuries.
