Two police officers rescued a man from drowning in the Mississippi Sound early Wednesday.
Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to a report of a body floating in the water near the St. Stanislaus pier, Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike De Nardo said. Police said the man was trying to commit suicide.
Officers Nathan Corr and John Nelson jumped into the water, pulled the man onto the beach, began performing first aid and successfully resuscitated the man.
DeNardo said the man jumped from the Washington Street Pier.
Bay St. Louis firefighters and American Medical response EMTs also assisted in the rescue.
The man, whom authorities are not identifying, was taken to an area hospital, where he made a full recovery.
