Police are investigating a reported rape that allegedly occurred behind a commercial building during the Nerieds Parade on Sunday.
Officials said Waveland Police Sgt. Travis Foreman was flagged down by an unidentified man while on patrol during the parade, and was told of a sexual assault that had occurred. Foreman then went to the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant, where he found a distraught, 16-year-old female believed to be the victim, Police Chief James Varnell said.
After interviewing the girl and getting more information, Forman proceeded to the Waveland Wal-Mart and made contact with a man at the rear of the building. Varnell said the alleged incident took place in that area.
No arrests have yet been made, and police did not release information on the condition of the reported victim.
