Body found near Mississippi Coast beach, authorities say. Here’s what we know
Authorities are investigating after officers found a man’s body Monday evening near the beach in Waveland, Police Chief Mike Prendergast said.
The man was found after 5 p.m. in the water near the Garfield Ladner Pier. Prendergast said the investigation was in its early stages but the death did not appear to involve foul play.
A group of people fishing near the pier saw the man floating in the water, according to police. Prendergast said the man appeared to have been in the water for less than an hour and a half.
Hancock County Coroner Jeff Hair said he would not release the man’s name until he has notified his family.
