Crash in South MS leaves motorcyclist in ‘serious condition,’ sheriff says

A motorcyclist was injured in serious condition after a crash on Friday in Hancock County, authorities said.

Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said the crash closed part of Texas Flat Road after the motorcycle lost control around 8:30 a.m. The road has since reopened.

Adam said authorities believe the motorcyclist was passing other cars before the crash. He said the driver was brought to a hospital and no one else was hurt.

It was the second serious crash on Texas Flat Road in the last two weeks.

Authorities said a head-on collision May 15 killed two people in separate cars. Hancock County Coroner Jeff Hair identified the victims in that crash as Henry Barnes, 47, of Slidell and Ayden Stockstill, 14, of Picayune.

Stockstill was a freshman who played varsity soccer and was on the honor roll at Picayune Memorial High School, according to his obituary.

“He had a playful, kind and faithful soul,” his obituary says. “He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and teammate. He will be terribly missed by so many.”
