‘Dancing in the sky.’ Hancock girl’s casket will honor her dream of TikTok stardom.
She was a dancing queen, a best friend, a daughter, a sister and an aspiring TikTok star.
Alexis Pierson, a 14-year-old Hancock Middle School student who died in an accidental shooting at her Bayside Park home, will be buried in a unique casket that pays tribute to her favorite things.
Casey Lawhon, owner of In Memory Casket Wraps, will wrap Pierson’s casket in his mobile workshop at Edmond Fahey Funeral home on Friday afternoon.
The wrap is TikTok themed — black with splashes of teal and hot pink — and will feature a picture of Alexis, as well as an illustration of the teen and her friends with the phrase, “Dancing in the Sky.”
Lawhon will also create a poster to be placed on an easel at Alexis’s services.
“I did some research and was talking to her stepdad,” Lawhon told the Sun Herald on Friday. “Her dream is to be TikTok famous. I try to portray the person as best as I can.”
The wrap and easel will cost up to $1,400, and Lawhon asked the community on Facebook if they wanted to donate to the cost for the family. It was paid for in about an hour.
Funeral arrangements for Alexis have not yet been announced.
