Lucedale woman, 22, one victim in deadly George County crash

GEORGE COUNTY -- A head-on collision Sunday morning on U.S. 98 near Old Highway 53 left two women dead, an official with Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

Master Sgt. Benjamin Seibert said a Mazda MX-5, driven by Marla E. Holbert, 44, of Lafayette, Louisiana, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of traffic around 5:35 a.m. when her vehicle hit a Pontiac G6.

Holbert, along with the driver of the Pontiac -- Summer S. Davis, 22, of Lucedale -- were killed in the collision.

Seibert said the accident is still under investigation.
