Coast man dies after apparent explosion of homemade device, authorities say
A 27-year-old man died Thursday from what authorities called “an apparent explosive device,” the George County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to the yard of a home on Nicholson Lane in the Bexley community of George County at 5:30 p.m.. There they found a man who had died and had significant wounds from an explosive.
They also found materials associated with homemade explosive devices in the area, according to the release.
George County Coroner DeeAnn Murrah said she would not release the identity of the victim at this time and could not provide any further information.
An investigation by the George County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to call 601-947-4811.
