Update: One hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in George County
One person is hospitalized and under armed guard after a shooting involving George County Sheriff deputies.
At about 11:50 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the Agricola community, which ended with an officer-involved shooting.
When they arrived at the scene, deputies found a man who matched the description of the person who reportedly had a firearm.
A 58-year-old man, who was not identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He is listed in stable condition and is under armed guard.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.
“Upon completing their investigation, agents will share their findings with the attorney general’s office,” the report said.
In a separate incident, deputies responded at 9:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 100 block of Moye Boulton Lane in the Bexley community of George County.
Marvin Dewayne Dortch Jr., 19, of Lucedale was booked on one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and failure to comply with commands of law enforcement.
He was released on a $1,000 signature bond.
