Sheriff: Woman shot in domestic dispute

Janette Rubino, 47, of Hurley is in critical condition after a shooting this morning.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said the shooting occurred at 7 a.m. during an argument at Rubino’s home on Joe Robino Road.

Joseph Keith Carroll, 42, who lives at the home, allegedly shot Robino in the face with a 20-gauge shotgun. Byrd said he has been charged with aggravated assault. Byrd said alcohol may be involved.

Robino was transported to University of Alabama Medical Center.

Carroll has been charged with aggravated assault and is in the Jackson County jail.

Robino's daughter posted on Facebook later in the day that he mother had a small fracture to her cheek but no major damage.
