Jackson County estimates Lee's damage to beach at $200,000

Jackson County's road manager told the Board of Supervisors this morning the worst damage from Tropical Storm Lee over the weekend was to the county's beaches in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula.

He set the figure at $200,000 for sand replacement and debris removal.

Joe O'Neal, director of county roads, said crews are still assessing the areas and the price tag could go up for the large amounts of debris Lee deposited and to replace sand that was either blown off the beaches or washed away.
