A 16-year-old died early this morning of injuries he sustained in an accident late Thursday night, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said.
Trent Lloyd Romero of Vancleave was on a bicycle when he pulled out in front of a vehicle on Jim Ramsey Road at Schoolland Road in Vancleave around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Byrd said.
The teen was airlifted from the scene to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he died of his injuries around 1:30 a.m. today, Byrd said.
No foul play is suspected.

The driver of the 2004 pickup that struck Romero's bike, Byrd said, did not appear to have any way to avoid hitting Romero. The pickup truck driver submitted to a blood-alcohol screening, which is standard in any collision involving a death, though the sheriff said she was obviously upset, but in no way appeared impaired.
