Two Vancleave men, each jailed on $50,000 bonds Tuesday, are accused of breaking into a home on Quave Road and stealing a cache of handguns, shotguns and rifles from the homeowner, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said.
Steven Mattox, 23, of Quave Road, and Matthew Fairley, 23, of Rolling Hills Road, both in Vancleave, were arrested Tuesday and charged with one count each of burglary. Both are accused of breaking into the home in the 5300 block of Quave Road on Friday.
Sheriff's deputies and other investigators, including agents with the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County, arrested the men after they were identified as the same men who were selling the weapons for cash or narcotics.
Most of the weapons, the sheriff said, were recovered.
