An Ocean Springs man who thought he had persuaded a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him at the Biloxi Lighthouse Pier is behind bars, officials said.

Agents from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Tyrekus Eiland, 28, on a felony charge of enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes.

Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said Eiland had begun talking via text message with an undercover officerin March. Eiland believed he was communicating with a teen girl. He also believed he had persuaded her to meet him for sex. He arranged to meet “her” at the Biloxi Lighthouse Pier at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Instead, agents booked him into the Harrison County jail. He is being held on a $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
