He needed a kidney, and a sheriff’s deputy was happy to donate
After a 10-day delay, a St. Tammany deputy's life-saving donation was made Friday morning, and it went off without a hitch.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux underwent a successful surgery to donate a kidney to injured St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's deputy Jason Triche, whose kidneys recently failed due to injuries sustained in a 2012 shooting.
“If I was in his situation, I would hope someone would step up and do it for me," said Ardeneaux, in an STPSO release. "I couldn’t think of a better person to give it to.”
The surgery was originally scheduled for July 11, but was postponed. Both Triche and Ardeneaux are "doing well and currently in recovery," according to the release.
