Car of the Day: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad

Owners: Dale and Teena Maddox of Sachse, Texas

What's it got in it?: LS 6 Chevy engine, 4L60E transmission with a four-link coil-over 10-bolt Chevrolet rear end

What's been done to it? The Maddoxes bought the car with extensive modifications, including an amplified sound system featuring J&L subwoofers and speakers tucked under custom, upholstered speaker enclosures that match the car's custom interior, but many details on the resto-mod aren't available. "We fell in love with the car, and bought it as-is," Dale Maddox said.

The couple found the car on eBay, but though they won the bid at two auctions, the bids did not meet the reserve. But they stayed in touch with the owner and bought the car several months later.

"We had the car delivered from Arizona, Maddox said. "I call this my estate car -- I was born in 1956, and I'll keep it until I die."
