A man arrested late Sunday night was jailed on a $50,000 bond after he kicked a police officer who was trying to take him into custody, police Sgt. Donnie Dobbs said.
Police Sgt. Thomas Goldsworthy was trying to arrest Gary Ray Jackson, 44, on a charge of simple possession of marijuana in the 2000 block of Pass Road, Dobbs said. Jackson has a history of resisting police, Dobbs said.
The officer was not seriously injured.
Police arrested Jackson on a charge of simple assault on an officer, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and marijuana possession.

Jackson, of the 500 block of Cuevas Street in Biloxi, was booked at the Harrison County jail early this morning. Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set the felony bond.
