Carl the rooster removed from downtown

A citizen has removed Carl the downtown rooster from downtown.

According to the mayor, he is in a private yard outside the city with some hens.

"Although Carl has no spurs, I don't think the city can allow Carl to roam around downtown since the chicken scratch incident Friday in front of Tato-Nut," Mayor Connie Moran posted on her Facebook page today.

Carl scratched a child and his parents have complained.

Moran said children feed Carl donut holes, and he had come to expect that.

Moran has been an advocate of allowing three roosters, known as the downtown roosters, to roam free.

She said they are definitely a tourist attraction and she is still looking for ways to possibly pen the last two in the downtown area. One was hit by a car and killed recently.
