Biloxi Police arrested two people Sunday in a child abuse and neglect case.

Jendy Maudali Valdez-Juaraz, 20, was charged with felony child abuse and felony child neglect. Melvin Garlicia-Escobedo was arrested for not reporting the abuse and was charged with condoning child abuse.

Police said the child was under 18 but did not specify the age. The child, whom police believe was physically abused and neglected, was removed from the home by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong set Valdez-Juarez's bond at $25,000 for each charge. Garlicia-Escobedo's bond was set at $1,400 by municipal Judge Eugene Henry.
