Lester Jerome Selmon, 51, pleaded guilty this morning to a 1990 burglary and the rape of a then 15-year-old girl.
Pascagoula police arrested Selmon in 2009 after DNA evidence linked him to the case more than 19 years after the incident. Police reopened the investigation after the victim moved back to the area and checked on the status of the investigation. Police investigators sent DNA evidence in the case to the state Crime Lab, which identified Selmon as the suspect.
Selmon has previously served time in prison in an unrelated rape and kidnapping in Harrison County.
