HANCOCK COUNTY – Investigators are asking the public to help identify a suspect who robbed a Circle K convenience store clerk at knifepoint this morning, said acting-Chief David Allen.
Hancock County criminal investigator Brandon Normand said they are looking for a black man, about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, who was wearing a black hoodie turned inside out. The suspect was wearing the hood pulled over his face with eye holes cut into it.
Normand said the robbery took place at the store at 803 U.S. 90 shortly before 4:30 a.m.
No customers were in the store and no one was injured, he said.
A surveillance video was little help identifying the suspect since he was so covered up, Normand said.
Under orders of the suspect, the clerk opened the register and the assailant grabbed the money out of the drawer, he said.
He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Anyone with information is asked to call Waveland Police at 467-3669, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department at 467-6900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
