BILOXI - A National Day of Prayer ceremony was held on the front steps of Biloxi City Hall Thursday to pray for the country and remind everyone that open prayer still is allowed.
Carleen Hall, Biloxi coordinator for the National Day of Prayer, led the ceremonies. She said the observance, which is in its 60th year, didn't begin on the Coast until 1993.
"When I moved to the Coast 20 years ago, there was no National Day of Prayer here," Hall said. "We had to have somebody take the lead and start calling people and get it to happen."
