The southbound lanes of Interstate 110 were closed to motorists Thursday afternoon so that the state Department of Transportation could make emergency repairs to the metal grid on the roadway.
D’Iberville Police Capt. Keith Davis said metal from the grid was sticking up, causing motorists’ tires to be punctured.
MDOT is making repairs as quickly as possible, but Davis advised motorists to avoid I-110 to allow repairs to be made more quickly.
As a reminder, the I-110 is to be closed beginning Jan. 3 for road repairs already scheduled.
