The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for east central Hancock County that includes Diamondhead and southwestern Harrison County until 4:30 p.m.
At 3:23 p.m., the NWS detected a thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph near Diamondhead moving northwest at 5 mph.
The NWS earlier had issued a strong thunderstorm warning at 3 p.m. for north Long Beach-Lyman area moving south at 5 mph.
The storms will affect areas in and around Lyman, Long Beach and Gulfport.

Frequent lightning, pea to dime-sized hail and wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph are associated with these storms.
Rainfall of one to two inches in a short period of time from these storms could result in ponding in low-lying roadways.
