Biloxi River expected to flood at Lyman stage (Update 2 p.m.)

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a flood warning for the Biloxi River near Lyman.

The forecasted crests are based on rainfall that has occurred and anticipated rainfall in the next 12 hours.

The warning is effective now through Monday night. At Noon, the river was at 10.1 feet. The flood stage is 12 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening and is expected to rise near 13 feet by Monday morning.

At 13 feet, Lorraine Road will begin to flood, making driving hazardous. River Road near Three Rivers Road bridge also will begin to flood.

At 14 feet, homes on the Lower Fisherman Trail will begin to flood and Lower River Road will be impassable.
