The Mississippi Walk for Diabetes – Gulf Coast has moved its event from a walk , scheduled for Saturday, at 15th Street in Gulfport, has been moved indoors because of the threat of bad weather.
Now dubbed, the Mississippi “Party” for Diabetes", the event will be hosted at the law office of Daniel, Coker, Horton, and Bell located at 1712 15th Street, Suite 400, in Gulfport.
“We renamed the event the ‘Mississippi Party for Diabetes’ because we simply won’t let a little rain dampen our fun and we don’t want to dash the hopes those joining us in the fight against diabetes -- an event that raises funds to care for our children, adults, and all who live with diabetes,” said DFM Executive Vice President Mary Fortune. “In addition, we will still have live music, food and special guests in addition to raising money to support our cause.”
Mississippi native Joe Horn, former wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons, will still at the event taking pictures and signing autographs. Live music will be performed by The Bluegrass Appeal. Children’s activities such as a fire truck exploration and face painting will also be available. Food will be provided by Salute Italian Restaurant.
